Jack Rabid is one of Austin, TX’s busiest drag kings, and a member of Boiz of Austin, Austin’s only all drag king troupe. Jack grew up in Cold Spring, New York, but it was his frequent trips to the city with his punk rocking parents and theatrically inclined aunt to experience everything from Phantom of the Opera to sneaking into CBGB that nurtured Jack into a lover of the weird, rocking and over the top. After attending high school in the small town of Wimberley, Texas, he started his career in Nashville, TN in 2011 while there studying music at Vanderbilt University, and it was there he discovered his love of drag pageantry. He is an active competitor is the USofA: MI system, which he likes to think of as his family. Jack is a nationally acclaimed king who has performed across the south and mid-west, and is a 2017 Selected Artist for Austin International Drag Festival. Jack was also one of twelve international kings selected to compete in the first season of King Me! Rise of a Drag King, a YouTube competition series. Jack Rabid is a king known for his menagerie of celebrity illusions and cosplay characters, as well as his energetic stage presence, and he is proud to be able to showcase just how high a caliber of entertainments drag kings can bring to the table.
